Eagles at Giants: Week 15 Predictions

The Eagles captured their 10th NFC East championship in franchise history this past Sunday but it came at a cost – losing Carson Wentz. The Eagles now look to Nick Foles as the QB and will have to make plenty of adjustments to compete come playoff time. On the upside, fans may get their first look at rookie cornerback Sidney Jones who practiced in full for the first time this season.  Will a lot on the line and now a 3rd road game against the Giants, Eagles are searching for the top seed in the NFC. Here is the crew’s predictions for the game:

Everyone in Philadelphia is hoping that Nick Foles can do just enough to keep this incredible season alive. After the monumental win in LA, the Eagles now have to travel again for the third game in a row and will visit a Giants team whose season was derailed by the Eagles in week three on their way to a 0-3 start. New York will be looking to seek revenge at home this week but quite frankly does not have a healthy enough team to beat the Birds.

While I believe the Eagles offense will be sluggish from travel, and really the entire team making adjustments under Foles,  the defense will feast on Eli. Manning went to a quick passing game in week 3 to try and beat the Eagles, but now he has no weapons rely on in that plan. A bunch of field goals in this one but Eagles prevail.

Final Prediction: Eagles 23, Giants 16

The defense of the Giants looks significantly better under interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo, but their offense is still lackluster. Nick Foles is certainly one of the top backups in the league, but the Eagles will simply not be able to replace what Carson Wentz provided on third down and in the red zone. His efficiency and ability to feel the rush has been second to none this season. Foles will have to play a clean game not only this week but for the rest of the season, either taking a sack or throwing the ball away. The running game and defense will have to carry the torch until the flame finally burns out this year. Smart decisions and getting to Eli will go a long way in this game.

Final Prediction: Eagles 27, Giants 13

With a costly win last week, the Eagles go into Met Life stadium without Carson Wentz after he tore his ACL late in the game. In order to bounce back, the Eagles have to do what they’ve been doing all season – having “the next man up” to produce at a high rate. Nick Foles is not just an average NFL backup. He has the experience, and a newly developed leadership to at least get a couple more wins these next upcoming weeks. Foles could look a little rusty to start, but all in all, playing a defeated Giants team won’t be a difficult task.

Final Prediction: Eagles 19, Giants 6

The Eagles take on the Giants at Metlife stadium in a game that looked to be much easier just two weeks ago. With the Carson Wentz injury, we will see Nick Foles take over the throne moving forward but there is no better time for Foles to make his first start of the season. Even with Eli Manning starting again and a different head coach at the helm, the Giants are still a lost cause. Despite the major setback for the Eagles, the offense and really as a team will need to find a way to click as a whole. Establishing a running game earlier could go a long way. The lack of firepower for the Giants should lead to a convincing win for the Eagles, especially if Foles can keep the turnovers at a minimum.

Final Prediction: Eagles 20, Giants 7

A lot of drama has surrounded the Giants this season, and injuries have pretty much depleted their offense. Yet at this point in the year, they are still one of the worst teams in football. Last time these two teams played, unlikely hero Jake Elliot saved the day in what was otherwise a below average game for the Eagles. While it was early in the season, it was a bit concerning how the Eagles let the Giants back into the game. Since then, the Giants have only won two games and have continued to struggle on both sides of the ball. I expect the Eagles to rely a ton on their ground game tomorrow to ease Foles in as well as use the weather in their favor. When they do throw, expect Doug Pederson to call plenty of short passes.

The Giants run game has developed a bit, but it is not near what it needs to be. As usual, Eli Manning will have to play well to beat the Eagles this week. While the offense struggled last week, the New York defense was fantastic in the first half against Dallas. I see them putting a full performance together and having a solid game against the Eagles this week. While the Eagles are heavy favorites, it is always hard to beat a team twice in a season. I see a defensive battle and ultimately an upset by the New York Giants.

Final Prediction: Eagles 13, Giants 17
