The Eagles will travel to Dallas this week for a matchup that always means a little bit more than the standings. Philadelphia is well rested and will look to take advantage of some key players out of the lineup for Dallas. A primetime matchup between a team looking to maintain control of the NFC, and another trying to keep their playoff hopes alive – it’ll be a good one! Here is the crew’s predictions for the game.
Tyler Edgerton (8-1)
Although the Eagles rested up last week, they lost some ground in the NFC as the Rams, Vikings, Saints, Panthers, and Falcons all claimed victories. Luckily in the NFC East, all the teams lost. Now headed to Dallas, it’ll be interesting to see what roles the new additions like Jay Ajayi, Dannell Ellerbe, and Will Beatty will have…including Ronald Darby (back from a week 1 ankle injury).
Just as the Eagles are getting healthier and add depth, the Cowboys have lost key components on both sides of the ball. This week’s game always means something a little more. I really don’t believe it will be a close contest. Look for the Cowboys to max protect and try to get the ball out of Dak’s hands quickly (much like the Giants did with Eli). Eagles win convincingly behind the best run defense in the league and a continued balanced attack.
Final Prediction: Eagles 33, Cowboys 17
Joe Fabiani (8-1)
Coming in fresh off a bye week the Eagles look to extend their winning streak to 8. It’ll be interesting to see how the Eagles rotate the defensive backs as they have Ronald Darby coming back off of injury. The defense has nice boost coming into the game adding veteran linebacker, Dannell Ellerbe. The bye couldn’t have come at a better time considering they have everyone who is available back and healthy.
Looking at Dallas, they are in for a tough task after losing Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas struggled last week to establish any flow on offense without their star running back. They also are expected to be without two top-tier starters in Tyron Smith (left tackle) and Sean Lee (linebacker). Look for the Eagles defensive front to get after Dak Prescott on their way to stopping the run. The Eagles defense is ascending at the best time of the year as now they now lead the league in rushing yards allowed.
Unless the Eagles struggle out of the gate and let Dallas hang around this should be a sound victory for your red-hot Philadelphia Eagles.
Final Prediction: Eagles 31, Cowboys 14
John Purificato (8-1)
The Eagles are coming back at full strength from the bye, and are heading to Dallas for their biggest game of the season. A win on Sunday night could almost certainly wrap up the division for the Eagles. Dallas is coming off an embarrassing loss at the hands of the Falcons. The Cowboys could not protect Dak and had trouble running the ball without Zeke against a Falcons team who is in the bottom of the league in run defense.
With serious injuries to the offensive line and Dez Bryant hobbled with injuries as well, the Cowboys offense is on a downward slide. Up until Sunday, the Cowboys defense was playing out of their minds, but losing Sean Lee last week will hurt them a lot. Demarcus Lawrence will have a say in whether the Cowboys win or lose, considering he leads the league in sacks. The Eagles will look to jump on the Cowboys early buy dominating not only the clock but the trenches as well which they have done all year. I think this game shows the Eagles are legitimate contenders! Eagles put the nail in the Cowboys coffin.
Final Prediction: Eagles 34, Cowboys 20
Matthew Scott (7-2)
In a primetime matchup between the Eagles and Cowboys, the one glaring key to the game is the Eagles defensive line against the Cowboys offensive line. With Tyron Smith out, the offensive line of Dallas gave up 6 sacks. The Eagles lead the league in 3rd down conversion percentage while the Cowboys are one of the last in 3rd down defense. I think it will be a lot closer then everyone thinks for a majority of the game being that this IS an NFC East matchup. The Eagles offense struggles early but regroups in the second half to get the win on the road.
Final Prediction: Eagles 29, Cowboys 17
Tylar Pomroy (7-2)
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally among us. There hasn’t been this much hype built up for an Eagles-Cowboys game in years and it looks as if this won’t be a close game. While the Eagles are coming off a bye and fully rested, Dallas is hurting on offense without Ezekiel Elliott and left tackle Tyron Smith able to play. Dak and company head into Philly without their prized running back and they’re going to feel his absence – just like they did last week against Atlanta.
This game will serve as a confidence builder for our defense that is now ranked in the top ten for yards per game. Our offense continues to get better and the 51 point outing from last Sunday should carry over for another dominant performance. Cowboys fans are going to be full of excuses for why they lose this game but they should really be focusing their energy on why their quarterback isn’t good enough to play without a star running back.
Final Prediction: Eagles 34, Cowboys 13
